India is preparing for the two-day celebration of the 24th Kargil Vijay Diwas to honor its victory over Pakistan in the 1999 Kargil War.
The two-day celebration is set to start today, and Rajnath Singh, the defence minister, will attend to honor the soldiers who gave their lives in defense of the country on Wednesday.

The primary celebration to honor the Vijay Diwas and remember the sacrifice of the jawans will start this evening with flower offerings at the monument.
Wreaths will be laid by several senior Army leaders, both present and past.
According to media sources, there will be a memorial ceremony and a trip to the museum next to the monument called the “Hut of Remembrance.”
A prayer session, the lighting of lights, the customary pipe band and static band performance, and the Beating Retreat will all take place during the occasion.
Families of the fallen troops make a point of visiting the monument on this day each year.
For the occasion this year, several of them have already come.
