A multi-agency investigation was started to ascertain the cause of the explosion and capture the culprits after a powerful bomb tore through the wall of a CRPF school in Rohini, Delhi, on Sunday. According to PTI, a top police officer stated that investigators are looking into a potential Khalistani connection to the explosion.
The IED detonation severely damaged the nearby stores and vehicles, in addition to tearing through the wall of the Rohini school, which resulted in no injuries. According to a senior police officer who spoke to PTI, it is believed that the offenders intended to communicate with the authorities.
According to sources who spoke to PTI, the Delhi Police looked into a possible Khalistani connection to the incident after reading a social media post that claimed the explosion was in retaliation for Indian agents targeting pro-Khalistan separatists.
The bomb was most likely set up late on Saturday night and was an IED, perhaps operated by a remote or a timer that didn’t contain any lethal shrapnel. According to locals, the device detonated on Sunday between 7.35 and 7.40 am.
Later on Sunday night, a rumoured screenshot of a Justice League India Telegram post, including a video of the explosion with the watermark “Khalistan Zindabad” at the bottom, became viral on social media.
“If Indian coward agencies and their masters think they can hire filthy goons to target our members to silence our voice, then they live in a fool’s world. They can’t imagine how close we are to them and how capable we are to strike anytime #KhalistanZindabad #JLI,” the Justice League India said in the post along with the clip.
The event follows a week in which dozens of planes throughout India received bomb threats, all of which were later proven to be false.
Teams from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Delhi Police, National Investigation Agency (NIA), and National Security Guard (NSG) surrounded the area. They took samples for additional analysis shortly after the incident.
According to an officer, the offender “intentionally” chose the location to convey a message rather than cause harm to anyone.
