The BJP and the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction are working on a strategy to oppose the sizable gathering that Aaditya Thackeray, the leader of the Shiv Sena UBT, would be holding on July 1. At 4 p.m. on Friday at his official house Varsha, Chief Minister Shinde has summoned a meeting with all the senior officials in his party.
The Shinde-led Sena aims to induct Rahul Kanal, a former close aide of Aaditya, but the meeting has been convened to develop a strategy to neutralize the effect of his rally, according to senior sources.
Beyond that, however, we should also be there on the ground the day of the demonstration. A functionary said News18, “We will meet down with the BJP to decide how we can go forward with that day.
Even after just one year in office, the party remains optimistic. It has been looking at ministries in the state cabinet as well in the hopes of being included in a potential reshuffle of the union government.
Over the last several months, there has been conflict between the two Shiv Senas. Aaditya intends to organize a large-scale protest against the BMC for allegedly engaging in corruption and the theft of public monies. The BMC will get a memo after the conclusion of the demonstration.
However, the BJP-Shiv Sena (Shinde group) intends to fight the demonstration, and they will develop a strategy by Friday night.
