Maharashtra ATS has arrested nine Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in the country in separate operations in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. An official said on Wednesday that two of these Bangladeshi nationals were wanted in a rape case registered in Navi Mumbai’s Nerul police station in 2022.
The search operation was carried out at several places for a week against Bangladeshi nationals living in the country without valid documents, the official said. On July 26, ATS officials arrested a Bangladeshi woman in a raid at Nerul village in Navi Mumbai. The woman was wanted in a case registered by the Mumbai Crime Branch in 2009, he said.
Besides, two people wanted in the rape case were also nabbed from Satellite City, the official said. He said that the next day i.e. on July 27, ATS officials raided Mumbai’s Byculla and arrested four Bangladeshi nationals wanted in a case registered under the Passport Act. In another raid, two Bangladeshi nationals were nabbed from central Mumbai, the official said.
