A 39-year-old man working as a corporate consultant in Thane city of Maharashtra fell victim to sextortion. A woman had made a video call to him. After this, Rs 6.50 lakh were extorted by threatening him. The victim complained about this matter to the police. Police has registered a case and started investigation.
The victim has said in the complaint that on March 17, a video call was received on WhatsApp from a number. A woman was talking on the video call. In the middle of the call, she suddenly removed her clothes, after which the victim immediately disconnected the call.
After some time, a video of the woman and some screen shots came on WhatsApp, in which there was a recording of the conversation on the video call. It was deleted immediately after some time. Citing the complaint, the police said that the next day the victim received a call from an unknown number, in which the caller introduced himself as the Police Commissioner of Delhi.
The caller said that the woman runs a sex racket. The police is searching for her. During the investigation, a video has been found, which was about to be uploaded on social media. The caller told the victim that if you want to stop the video from being uploaded on social media, contact a person. After this, the victim called on the given number.
When the victim spoke to that number, a demand of Rs 50,000 was made. After this, due to fear, the victim gave 50 thousand rupees. After this, between 18 and 25 March, a total of Rs 6.50 lakh was allegedly extorted from the victim by blackmailing him. The victim complained about the matter to the police on Tuesday. Police registered a case against 15 people and started investigating the matter. However, no arrest has been made so far.
