Aurangabad: During a dance performance held in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) district on his birthday, a video purporting to show Maharashtra minister Abdul Sattar requesting police to “break the bones” and lathi-charge attendees has emerged.
Wednesday night in Sillod town, when famed dancer Gautami Patil was performing, something happened.
Mr. Sattar is the representative for the Sillod assembly seat in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and is a member of the Shiv Sena, which is headed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. He holds the position of State Minister for Minority Development.
The opposition began to attack Mr. Sattar for his language usage after the event.
In the footage, Mr. Sattar can be seen utilizing the stage microphone to direct cops. The video also shows cops lightly applying lathi charges to a few onlookers.
Ms. Patil is well-liked among Maharashtra’s youth due to her Lavani dance routine performances. She organized a dancing performance in Sillod to honor Mr. Sattar’s birthday. There were a lot of folks who came to the program.
But Mr. Sattar grabbed the microphone as anarchy reigned and the audience went crazy.
In the now-viral footage, Mr. Sattar is heard urging the audience to sit down at first, but when things didn’t get better, he gave the police orders to begin beating them with batons.
“Baton-charge the folks in the rear (of the program venue) and thrash those who indulge in theater like dogs. He urged the cops, “Beat them so hard that their bottom bone is broken.”
“Has your father seen such a programme?” Mr. Sattar posed the question to a spectator in the audience. Are you the devil? Since you are a human being’s son, act accordingly and watch the show. Take a seat and enjoy the program.”
Ambadas Danve, the leader of the opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council and a member of the Shiv Sena (UBT) headed by Uddhav Thackeray, criticized Mr. Sattar for the language he used throughout the show.
“The kind of language that Sattar used suits his culture and this has also been accepted by the Shinde faction and the BJP that are ruling the state,” he joked.
