Politics is heating up in Maharashtra regarding Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. Here, both the camps of Shiv Sena are continuously giving statements describing Savarkar as great, while former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has come under the direct target of Uddhav Thackeray. The BJP is attacking Uddhav on his closeness with Congress. In the meantime, BJP has also made a complete plan to encircle the Mahavikas Aghadi by announcing the Savarkar Yatra. BJP’s Mumbai president Ashish Shelar said that his party will take out ‘Veer Savarkar Gaurav Yatra’ in the state. Preparations are on to organize programs under this yatra in 36 Vidhansabhas. He said that Uddhav gives statements for his need and keeps on taking U-turns.

We will take this pride journey everywhere. He said that we have requested Mumbaikars that whoever is Savarkar lover should join this Gaurav Yatra. He said that Uddhav Thackeray should not take out ‘Gaurav Yatra’ at home just by giving a speech on Savarkar. Uddhav Thackeray gives statements according to his need. Uddhav’s focus remains only on “my family, my responsibility”. In Maharashtra, U-turn means Uddhav Thackeray.
Significantly, BJP leaders have protested against Rahul Gandhi’s statement, ‘I am not Savarkar, I am Gandhi’. Shinde-Fadnavis have expressed displeasure, while Uddhav Thackeray, a part of ‘Maha Vikas Aghadi’, has also sent a message to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi not to make false statements on Savarkar. At the same time, BJP has started besieging Rahul on the issue of Savarkar and has prepared to answer it with ‘Savarkar Yatra’.
Recently, while addressing a press conference after the conclusion of the budget session of the Legislature, Eknath Shinde said that the Uddhav Thackeray group has no right to speak about Hindutva. The Chief Minister said, “I publicly condemn Rahul Gandhi for intentionally insulting Savarkar and Prime Minister Modi. People will not let Rahul Gandhi to walk on the road.’
