In a combined operation by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad and its Uttar Pradesh equivalent, two people, including a suspected agent and recruiter of Pakistan’s espionage agency Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), were detained here, an official said.
He said that on Sunday, the Juhu section of the ATS and an Uttar Pradesh ATS team conducted a raid on a location in Mumbai’s Jogeshwari neighborhood and captured the pair as a result of specific information.
Arman Sayyad (62), and Mohammed Salman Siddhiqui (24), were named as the defendants. The official said that Mohammed Salman had been recruited by Sayyad, an accused ISI agent, and that they had both reportedly assisted Mohamad Raees, another alleged ISI agent.
Raees, a resident of Gonda, was detained by the UP ATS for reportedly providing his handlers in Pakistan with intelligence regarding Indian military installations.
Following his detention, there were arrests in the Jogeshwari region. After being shown before a local court on Monday, Sayyad and Siddhiqui were turned over to the UP ATS personnel, the official said.
