According to police, a 29-year-old male was detained in connection with the suspected killing of an elderly couple in Gokalpuri, northeastern Delhi. The couple was discovered dead at their home on Monday with their throats slashed, and as a result, their daughter-in-law Monika Verma was detained. According to the police, she is accused of murdering the pair together with her boyfriend Ashish Bhargav and another person. They said that Bhargav, a native of Ghaziabad, was apprehended in the NCR city on Wednesday night.
They said that he would appear in court and be sent to Delhi on police detention for further investigation. The second accused, Monika Verma, is already detained by police for four days. According to Joy Tirkey, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast), efforts are being undertaken to find Bhargav’s buddy Vikas, who is evading capture and is sought in connection with the crime.
The victims’ home, owned by Radhey Shyam Verma (72) and his wife Veenas (68), was also discovered to have been plundered, with cash worth around Rs 5 lakh and other valuables gone. Monika and Bhargav are having an adulterous relationship, according to the police. She planned to kill her in-laws and depart with their possessions since she wanted to live with her lover.
