Importance of ‘JiyoGraphical Indication’ to Mahur’s Tambul
In the Renuka Devi Temple at Mahur, ‘Tambul’ holds great significance, and among the main offerings to the goddess, ‘Tambul’ is considered significant. Devotees coming to Mahur from all over the country receive the blessed offering of ‘Tambul.’ This ‘Tambul’ now has received a geographical indication. After offering the traditional Puranpoli, ‘Tambul’ is prepared. It is used to make Nagveli and Kath (a type of betel leaf preparation).
‘Tambul’ is considered suitable for blood purification, as believed by many. ‘JiyoGraphical Indication’ is a type of label that is given to any product based on its geographical identification. It is given to any particular manufactured product or any specific crop or natural produce. The government takes note of this registration. With the availability of this tag to the offering of ‘Tambul’ in Mahur, the identification of Mahur’s ‘Tambul’ will be established worldwide.
Initiation of ‘Sky Walk’ and ‘Lift’
Earlier, the devotees had to climb 240 steps to reach the Renuka Mata Temple situated on the Mahur hill. But now, the devotees can reach the temple directly through the ‘Sky Walk’ and ‘Lift.’ For this, the foundation stone of the ‘Sky Walk’ project costing 51.3 crores (including the lift) was laid by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
After the completion of the ‘Sky Walk,’ the elderly and the disabled will find it convenient to visit the temple. To facilitate access to the temple, four capsule lifts will be constructed, and a lift station will be located at the top. One lift can accommodate up to 20 devotees at a time. With four lifts, a total of 80 devotees can go up and down simultaneously. This work will be completed soon, as reported
