For the Tata Group, the last several months have been quite hectic. Tata Starbucks, the group’s coffee company, generated sales of Rs 1087 crore in 2022–2023. A year before, the company had introduced an Indianized menu. In India, the corporation has 333 outlets. Tata Consumer Products, the firm’s parent company, reported a profit of Rs 268 crore. Last fiscal year, the revenue increased to Rs 3619 crore. Under Sunil D’Souza’s direction, Tata Consumer Products Limited’s CEO and MD, this has been accomplished. He receives one of the highest salaries of any CEO of an Indian FMCG company.
Currently, he is among the most effective CEOs in the Tata Group. He must contend with Reliance Retail, which is being actively entered into by Isha Ambani. Mukesh Ambani’s firm, Reliance Brand Limited, introduced the British sandwich and coffee brand Pret A Manger to India last month. The Darshan Mehta-led business seeks to seize market share from Tata Starbucks, which opened more than 50 locations in 2022 alone. It commands the market. Sunil D’Souza is up against Isha Ambani and Darshan Mehta in this strong effort.
On April 4, 2020, Sunil D’Souza was appointed the company’s CEO and MD. It happened following Ajoy Misra’s resignation.
He joined the Tata Group as the managing director of Whirlpool India. He spent 15 years working for Pepsico as well.
In 1993, he started his work with Brooke Bond Lipton India Ltd. He has almost 30 years of expertise in the food and beverage industry.
At the University of Madras, he studied engineering. Later, he completed an IIM MBA.
He received a salary of Rs. 10.49 crore in FY 2021. He earned Rs. 7.62 crore the previous year.
He had discussions with Ramesh Chauhan earlier this year about the purchase of Bisleri. The differences over the proposed value, however, resulted in the termination of the negotiations. According to him, the purchase would have allowed the corporation to three years ahead of schedule. They now want to focus on their current brands, however.
