Officials stated on Wednesday that Madhya Pradesh has created a strategy for the quick deployment of the 5G network in the state and placed focus on hastening the government’s licensing procedure for the extension of such services by telecom and internet service providers.
State Science and Technology Minister Om Prakash Sakhlecha told PTI in Indore that a clause in the 5G policy states that if telecom and internet service providers and corporations building the infrastructure do not get government clearance within the allotted period, it would be declared authorized.
“We want the state’s 5G network to grow quickly. We have enacted the 5G policy in response to this. It will benefit businesses in creating the framework for 5G services, he added.
Within one and a half to two years, Sakhlecha said, the whole state would have access to the 5G network.
Abhijit Agrawal, the managing director of Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation (MPSEDC), said the state’s 5G strategy was developed using recommendations from the industry and instructions from the federal government.
According to him, the strategy would cause the 5G network to rapidly expand over the next six months, particularly in metropolitan regions.
Officials have said that the licensing authority must decide on a license application for use on government land or property within 60 days of receiving the application. This deadline includes the time needed to get NOCs from various agencies and officers.
They said that the licensing authority must respond to an application for a license on private property or a building within three days of receiving it.
Within 30 days of the application’s submission, the licensing authority must decide whether to provide a license for tiny cells on street furniture.
A presumed license will be provided on the informed portal if the application is not resolved within the time frame outlined in the aforementioned provisions. This deemed license will be taken into account in the context of the application in question.
The applicant must, however, provide the necessary fees before the presumed license may be issued, according to the authorities.
