Meanwhile, Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has planned a big plan to make air passengers reach the airport easily. MMRC has decided to install country’s tallest escalator at metro station T-2 (CSMIA). So that those traveling by air can easily reach the airport.
An escalator as tall as a 6-story building
Most importantly, this escalator is going to be as tall as a 6-story building. This escalator of T-2 session will be as much as 19.15 meters. It is reported that a total of 8 escalators of 19.15 meters will be installed connecting the metro to the airport. According to the MMRC spokesperson, the highest escalator inside a Delhi Metro station is 15 meters. But with the installation of 19.15 meters high escalator at T-2 station of Metro-3, the record of highest passenger escalator will be held by MMRC.
Use of 250 ton capacity crane to install escalator
According to further information, installation work of 4 escalators out of 8 escalators has been started. A crane with a capacity of 250 tons is being used to install such a large escalator in the station area. For this, a 33.5 km long underground metro line is being constructed between Colaba-Bandra-Seepz.
This metro line will be around 15 to 20 meters from the ground surface. Due to this, with the help of escalators, the passengers will be able to reach the airport area from the underground in a few minutes. In fact, Mumbai Airport is the second busiest airport in the country. Where more than 950 flights are operated daily. Along with the air passengers, hundreds of people also reach the airport to drop off their relatives at the airport. This makes it a very busy place.
Reach airport in 20 to 25 minutes…
Due to the Metro-3 corridor plan, air travelers from South Mumbai will be able to reach the airport in just 20 to 25 minutes. Meanwhile, it currently takes one to one and a half hours to reach the airport from South Mumbai. In view of the increasing crowd in the future, keeping in mind the convenience of passengers, Mumbai Airport and Navi Mumbai Airport will also be connected through Metro.
