Due to post-monsoon repair work on its two runways, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will suspend operations on Tuesday for six hours. Flight operations will be suspended for six hours between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm today due to maintenance on both runways, according to a statement from the CSMIA.
The flight schedules are pre-planned in collaboration with ATC and Airside operations, therefore no delays are anticipated.
“On October 17, both runways — RWY 09/27 and RWY 14/32 — will be momentarily out of service as part of CSMIA’s extensive post-monsoon runaway repair plan. As part of its yearly post-monsoon preventative maintenance routine, CSMIA has planned this brief shutdown. Six months in advance, a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has also been properly issued in this respect, according to a statement from a CSMIA representative.
The annual practice of runway repair after the monsoons, according to the CSMIA, is one of a number of steps done to guarantee operational continuity and passenger safety.
