Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, poked fun at Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday by saying that he shared the dais at the Patna gathering of opposition parties with those who opposed the Ram temple, the repeal of Article 370, and Bal Thackeray’s philosophy.
Thackeray’s declaration of a morcha against “corruption” in the Mumbai municipal body was another target of criticism from Shinde.
“Lalu Yadav, a suspect in the fodder scam, and Mehbooba Mufti shared the dais with Uddhav Thackeray yesterday. The chief minister informed reporters that Uddhav will fight corruption in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation.
At the Patna conference on Friday, a total of 17 opposition parties agreed to work cooperatively while putting aside their differences in order to defeat the saffron party in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
“Dilo ka Gatbandhan” with those who disapproved of Balasaheb Thackeray’s philosophy, the Ram Temple, and the repeal of Article 370? Shinde, the leader of the Shiv Sena, said, “I believe we were correct and made the right choice last year.
Shinde was alluding to the uprising against Thackeray’s rule that he and 39 other MLAs spearheaded last year, which resulted in the fall of the MVA administration.
He said that the alliance of 15 parties who had lost faith in one another was evidence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s success.
Shinde dismissed the possibility of a political vengeance when asked about the Enforcement Directorate searching the homes of Shiv Sena (UBT) secretary Suraj Chavan and others in connection with the Covid hospital contracts issue.
“Retaliation is never carried out. Action is being taken by the Enforcement Directorate, not the state government. The issue includes Rs 1,200 crore, which is regular people’s money. This matter need to be understood well, he remarked.
The Shiv Sena-BJP administration is approaching its one-year anniversary, according to Shinde, and the cabinet will shortly be enlarged.
