A 22-year-old man associated to the outlawed Popular Front of India has been detained by the Rajasthan Police’s Anti-Terrorism Squad for allegedly urging others to take part in anti-national acts on social media, authorities said on Sunday.
Two mobile phones that were apparently used for carrying out anti-national activities have also been found by the ATS on the accused.
The ATS got a tip suggesting that Mohammad Sohail Bhishti was involved in anti-national activities through social media platforms, according to additional DG of ATS Ashok Rathore. As a result, an ATS team was sent right away to Bhilwara to take action.
Rathore said that proof of Sohail Bhishti’s connection to the Popular Front of India also came to light throughout the course of the inquiry. He was discovered to be using social media to incite people and promote anti-national activities.
The authorities said that the suspect has been arrested and is being questioned.
