Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his independence speech stated that the actions taken by the nation today and the work completed will have an impact on it for a thousand years.
On the 77th anniversary of Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the Red Fort’s ramparts, saying that the country had a tremendous chance because of the trinity of democracy, demographics, and diversity. Before achieving independence in 1947, India, according to him, fought for several centuries. “I am referring to the previous 1000 years because I believe that the nation is once again in a position of opportunity.
The course and future of the nation in the next 1000 years will be determined by what we do now, the actions we take, and the decisions we make one after the other, he stated.”Today, we have demographics, democracy, and diversity; these three factors when combined can help a country realise its aspirations. The nation’s dreams can be realised thanks to the trinity of demographics, democracy, and diversity, he continued. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt, Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane, and three service chiefs welcomed PM, Modi, to the Red Fort. Two Indian Air Force Advanced Light Helicopters Mark-III Dhruv began dropping flower petals at the location as soon as the Prime Minister raised the national flag.
The Indian Prime Minister recalled the days prior to 2014 when internet data tariffs were prohibitively expensive. He highlighted how India is now the global leader in offering the most affordable internet data rates. He underlined that this reduction in cost has translated to substantial savings for families across the nation. PM Modi also turned the spotlight on India’s rapid strides toward the deployment of 5G technology. He pointed out that the 5G rollout has gained unparalleled momentum, extending its coverage to over 700 districts. PM Modi laid out an ambitious vision for the adoption of 6G technology. He said that a dedicated task force will be constituted to ensure the success of the initiative.
During the G20 summit in Bali, world leaders expressed interest in India’s technological and digital advancements, as recalled by PM Modi. He stated, “During my last trip to Bali for the G20 Summit, every world leader inquired about the Digital India initiative. I told them, “The campaign is not limited to major metropolitan areas; it benefits every American.”
“Our effort is not restricted to Chennai, Delhi, or Mumbai…Even Tier-II communities now possess digital equipment…Our government’s motto is reform, perform, and transform, he continued.
The Indian Prime Minister described how the country responded to the Coronavirus pandemic by sending vaccines to multiple nations. “India has emerged as a ‘vishva mitral’ (world friend) nation that is laying a solid foundation for ‘vishva mangal’ (global welfare),” he emphasised.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic, when the world was confronting the wrath of this disease, India prioritised global development. India is now the representative of the world’s south…Prime Minister Modi continued, “After the COVID-19 pandemic, a new world order and geopolitical equation are taking shape.”
He repeated, “The definition of geopolitics is in flux. Today, 140 billion Indians are influencing the formation of the new world order.”
While discussing India’s technological advancements, Prime Minister Modi stated, “India’s space technology capabilities are rising swiftly. Deep sea mission, railway modernization – Vande Bharat, bullet train – we’re working on everything. Internet access has reached rural areas. While working on nano urea, we are also concentrating on organic agriculture.” He went on to say, “When we came to power in 2014, we were the tenth largest economy in the world. Today, thanks to the efforts of 140 billion Indians, we have attained fifth place. This did not occur spontaneously. The demon of corruption had the nation in its grasp, but we stopped the leaks and built a robust economy.”
“Modi guarantees that India will be among the top three economies within the next five years,” Prime Minister Modi emphasised. “Before, the Government of India spent 70 thousand crore rupees on the development of local bodies; today, it’s more than three lakh crore rupees,” stated PM Modi. He also stated that the Centre now disburses 100 trillion rupees to the states, up from 30 trillion rupees nine years ago. Additionally, the government is spending 4 lakh crores on housing for the impoverished.
While discussing the empowerment of farmers, Prime Minister Modi stated, “Bags of urea that are sold for 3,000 rupees on some international markets are provided to our farmers for 300 rupees, and the government is providing a 10 lakh crore rupee subsidy on urea for our farmers.”
During his address, he informed the nation that 10 lakh individuals have been helped by the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana. “Approximately eight crore people have started new businesses, and it’s not just eight crore people who have started businesses; each entrepreneur has hired one or two people,” Prime Minister Modi said.
“By utilising the Mudra Yojana, eight crore citizens have made it possible to employ 8-10 crore new individuals,” he emphasised. Prime Minister Modi stated that 13.5 crore people were able to escape destitution and enter the middle class by utilising government programmes.
