On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised India’s continuing economic changes and encouraged French business leaders to take advantage of the prospects the nation presents.
He made this statement while speaking at the CEO forum between France and India alongside French President Emmanuel Macron.
The Forum included 24 CEOs from India and 16 CEOs from France, representing a variety of industries including aviation, manufacturing, military, technology, and energy, according to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Several well-known French corporate figures attended the meeting, including Guillaume Faury from Airbus, Henri Poupart Lafarge from Alstom, Peter Herweck from Schneider Electric, Namita Shah from Total Energies, Philippe Errera from Safran, and Paul Hermelin from Capgemini.
On the Indian side, prominent businesspeople included Hari S. Bhartia of Jubilant Life Sciences Limited, Lakshmi Mittal of Arcelor Mittal, Tarun Mehta of Ather Energy, and Amit B. Kalyani of Bharat Forge.
“To explore ways to broaden commercial collaboration, President @EmmanuelMacron and I met with prominent CEOs. In a tweet, the Prime Minister emphasised India’s reforms and invited businesspeople to take advantage of everything the country has to offer.
According to the MEA release, the Prime Minister recognised the contribution made by these business titans to fostering closer ties between India and France and fostering economic cooperation.
He emphasised India’s advancements in infrastructure, startups, medicine, IT, digital payments, renewable energy, and business-friendly efforts, the report stated.
The CEOs were urged by the prime minister to take advantage of investment possibilities in India and participate in the country’s success narrative, it said.
The implementation of the Goods and Services Tax, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, the PLI (Production Linked Incentive) scheme, and other initiatives undertaken to improve the business environment were highlighted by the prime minister, according to a tweet from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Modi urged the business leaders of France and India to collaborate to hasten the development of their nations’ relationship.
In his speech, he noted how much the business communities of the two countries had contributed to advancing their bilateral relations.
On behalf of the leaders of India and France, he added, “I would like you to work for accelerating and strengthening this great journey of the two nations.” He also pledged to give them full support in their attempt.
Modi noted that the strategic alliance between France and India has lasted for 25 years, and he stated the two nations’ corporate leaders had been crucial to the protracted process.
“Our 25-year strategic collaboration is being honoured. Business leaders have been crucial in this path, Modi added.
Throughout the nine years of the NDA’s dominance in India, the government has made a number of steps to make conducting business easier. These include lowering corporation tax and loosening FDI regulations as well as promoting manufacturing via the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) programme.
Upon the invitation of French President Macron, Prime Minister Modi is in the country for a two-day formal visit.
