Speaking at the Second Voice of Global South Summit’s opening session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India vehemently denounced the killings of civilians in the current battle between Israeli troops and Hamas terrorists.
According to Modi, the circumstances in western Asia are giving rise to new difficulties.
As everyone is aware, the events in the West Asia area are giving rise to new issues. India has denounced the October 7 terrorist assault in Israel. We have also been restrained. We have prioritized communication and diplomacy. At the meeting, Modi said, “We also vehemently denounce the civilian casualties in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.”
Additionally, Modi said that India has given humanitarian supplies to the Palestinian people after a conversation with Mahmoud Abbas, the president of Palestine. The prime minister said, “Now is the moment for the nations of the Global South to come together for the greater good of the world.”
Modi urged collaboration on the occasion, using the five Cs as a framework: “consultation, communication, cooperation, creativity, and capacity building.”
Modi said that India thinks the divide between the Global North and the Global South shouldn’t grow as a result of new technologies. In the era of artificial intelligence, it’s critical that technology be handled appropriately. India will host the ArtificiaI Global Partnership Summit next month to further promote this,” he said.
Arindam Bagchi, a spokesman for the ministry of foreign affairs, had previously said that Modi will chair the summit’s maiden session, which would take place virtually.
Each of these meetings’ opening elements will be broadcast live, according to Bagchi.
According to the MEA, India has worked hard during its G20 Presidency to ensure that the concerns of the Global South get the attention they need and that their goals are taken into consideration while creating solutions for the world’s most pressing crises.
The primary objective of the second VOGSS would be to disseminate to the Global South the major conclusions reached during India’s G20 presidency. The difficulties brought forth by world events are probably going to be covered as well.
In addition, the summit will provide a forum for talking about how to maintain the momentum created by the shared goal of a more progressive, inclusive, and representative global order.
There will be ten sessions at the second VOGSS. Modi will host the opening and closing sessions at the head of state or government level.
“Global South: Together for One Future” is the topic of the last leaders’ session, according to the MEA, while “Together, for Everyone’s Growth, with Everyone’s Trust” is the theme of the first leaders’ session.
Eight ministerial meetings on the following subjects will also be held at the summit:* The “India & the Global South: Emerging Together for a Better Future” foreign ministers’ session.
