On Monday, April 15, Kerala will be the scene of intense political activity when top Congressman Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi attend open rallies to support respective alliance candidates ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
As part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s electoral campaign for the 2018 elections, Modi has two events in Kerala on April 15. Concurrently, Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to land in Kerala for a two-day tour, where he will attend a UDF rally in the northern section of Kozhikode in the evening and take part in other events in his Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency.
In Kerala, all 20 seats will hold polls for the Lok Sabha elections on April 26. Modi is making his sixth trip to the state in the South. His most recent visit to Kerala was on March 19, when he conducted a sizable roadshow in the Palakkad area.
Rahul Gandhi and PM Modi’s campaign rallies in Kerala: 1. On Monday morning, PM Modi will participate in a public meeting at Kunnamangalam in the Alathur constituency of the Thrissur District as part of his campaign.
2. Modi will be at the Alathur and Thrissur election campaigns of NDA candidates TN Sarasu and Suresh Gopi. He will then proceed to Thiruvananthapuram District’s Kattakkada.
3. Modi would conduct campaigning in Kattakkada on behalf of V Muraleedharan and Rajeev Chandrashekar, two Union ministers running in the Attingal and Thiruvananthapuram constituencies, respectively, under the NDA flag. Thiruvananthapuram Congress MP Shashi Tharoor will face off against Rajeev Chandrashekar.
4. The BJP fielded Thrissur-born actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, and he received 28.2 percent of the vote, compared to 11.15% for its 2014 candidate, KP Sreesan.
5. Rahul Gandhi will speak at United Democratic Front (UDF) rallies in Kerala and promote party candidates.
6. On Monday night, Rahul Gandhi, who is running for re-election from the Wayanad constituency for a second term in a row, will speak at a UDF rally in the northern Kozhikode district.
7. On April 15 and 16, Rahul Gandhi will participate in several events in the Wayanad constituency.
8. The Congress will hold meetings in the constituencies of Kannur, Palakkad, and Kottayam on April 18.
9. On April 22, Rahul Gandhi is also expected to speak at rallies in Thrissur, Thiruvananthapuram, and Alappuzha.
10. The Congressman filed his nomination papers and staged a large-scale roadshow to launch the election campaign in his Wayanad seat early this month. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Gandhi won Wayanad with a record margin of 4,31,770 votes.
