According to recent allegations, Puja Khedkar, a trainee IAS official, may have used the OBC non-creamy layer quota to gain admission to MBBS, notwithstanding the controversy surrounding her suspected abuse of authority and violation of appointment guidelines.
According to India Today TV, which cited people with knowledge of the situation, Khedkar was admitted to Pune’s Kashibai Navale Medical College for MBBS under the OBC Nomadic Tribe-3 category, which is designated for the Vanjari group.
According to the study, Puja Khedkar was admitted under the OBC non-creamy layer category, while her father was a working official in Maharashtra. Additionally, it stated that Khedkar passed the entrance exam for the private college and that her Common Entrance Test (CET) results were disregarded.
Kashibai Navale Medical College director Arvind Bhore, however, stated that Khedkar was admitted in 2007 via the CET. Bhore further asserted that the contentious IAS officer had provided a medical fitness certificate that omitted any reference to a disability.
“She had turned in the non-creamy layer certificate, the caste validity certificate, and the caste certificate… Additionally, she turned in a medical fitness certificate, which does not list any disabilities, Bhore informed ANI.
Khedkar caused a stir when she was posted in Pune and abruptly moved to the Washim district, and since then, her non-creamy OBC category and Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) certificate have come under investigation.
In August 2022, Puja Khedkar filed for a PwBD certificate in Pune; however, the doctors denied her request, stating that it was “not possible,” according to NDTV.
“… you have been examined by the undersigned / Medical Board on 11/10/2022 and I/We regret to inform you that… it is not possible to issue a disability certificate in your favour,” she was told in a letter.
