Stand-up comedians will be jobless in the coming time if politicians start stealing their acts and making them their reality. No matter how big the rallies are, no matter how controversial the speeches are and no matter how sensational the tv bytes are, they don’t solve any problems of the public. Irrespective of which party is doing it, political gimmicks and clap-worthy speeches are nice to hear but don’t provide jobs to the youth or pay up the debts of farmers. They don’t even bring progress or prosperity to anyone.
We see that it’s a season of such events. Almost every alternate day there is one political party having their rally. We see big crowds attending these events. The question remains, when so many people attend the rallies, where do the votes go? Are they supporters really? While most watch all this drama on YouTube sitting in their cosy living rooms.
Some Political parties function so much as Instagram accounts and politicians behave like influencers with paid partnerships. Yesterday’s rally of Congress, NCP and Uddhav Thackeray Sena was designed like an IPL event. While we can give 100 marks to the organisation of the whole programme, the actual objective did not seem clear. All who spoke came with negative bashing speeches. Meanwhile, we saw a Savarkar Yatra happening in Mumbai on the same day where CM Eknath Shinde participated. A lot of noise and display of power was seen. Today we witnessed the congress members travelling towards Gujarat in groups in numerous luxury cars to support Rahul Gandhi. None of these activities is taking Maharashtra forward nor is solving any public difficulties. We need constructive activities. Not a destructive drama.
On a daily basis, we see some politicians using a lot of time promoting themselves by giving tv bytes and talking insensitively. Blaming other politicians, abusing them, cursing them and being seen constantly is their focus. While there is so much entertainment happening, it’s seldom realised that there is very little talk about growth, development and social enhancement. Very few politicians talk about development, ideas and public issues. Most are interested in pulling others or self-promotion. All the MP’s, MLA’s. Ministers are drawing a salary for the service that they are supposed to give to the public who is paying taxes and is expecting returns from the money that they pay. The political people who really are interested in work will have a progress record and will not be hungry to be on television or will not be desperate for public applause. People of this country will choose growth and a better life, not big talk. The ones who look forward to gaining or holding power should focus on that.
Votes cannot be earned on somebody else’s name, hard work or profile. We need people who build, design, execute and keep their ears closed to criticism. What your father, grandfather or brothers have done is your personal family story. The public is interested in what you can do for them! It’s a time when people won’t vote because they loved some leader or liked the leader’s oratory, Now people will vote for those who make their life easy and help them survive.
