As the Netherlands revealed their 15-person team, captained by Scott Edwards, for the forthcoming ODI World Cup due to take place in India beginning next month, the seasoned combination of Roelof van der Merwe and Colin Ackermann were given a recall.
The pair was not on the squad for the Qualifiers, when the team came in second.
Ackermann and van der Merwe both have sufficient background in international competition. Ackermann ended as the team’s second-highest run scorer at the T20 World Cup in Australia last year, but Merwe has shown strong play in all areas.
In addition to anticipating all-arounder Bas de Leede to give his all in all areas, the Dutch would want to see opener Max O’Dowd perform to the best of his ability.
Vikram Singh, who ended with the most runs during the Qualifiers, is also anticipated to play a significant role with the bat.
The Netherlands, under by coach Ryan Cook, will play two exhibition games against Australia on September 30 and India on October 3 before opening its campaign against Pakistan in Hyderabad three days later.
The team will make their fifth appearance in the competition after failing to go beyond the group stage the previous four times.
