Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has reached Silver Oak. This is Sharad Pawar’s residence. This meeting took place at a time when the committee constituted to elect the new NCP president passed a resolution rejecting Sharad Pawar’s decision to step down as president. A meeting of NCP leaders was held at Silver Oak on Friday (May 5) in which this proposal was passed. After this meeting, Sanjay Raut has come to meet Sharad Pawar.
Sanjay Raut said, “Uddhav Thackeray and other opposition parties have conveyed their feelings to Sharad Pawar that given the current political scenario in the country, opposition unity and his leadership is necessary for the country.”
NCP Vice President Praful Patel told that Sharad Pawar has asked for more time to reconsider his decision. Praful Patel said, “We requested (Sharad) Pawar saheb to consider the resolution of the NCP committee in which he has been asked to continue as the party president. He (Pawar) has sought more time and after that he will give his decision.”
Praful Patel said after the meeting of the committee, “The committee has passed a resolution to reject resignation. It unanimously rejected Pawar’s decision to step down and urged him to continue as party president.” On May 2, after announcing his resignation from the post of NCP president, Sharad Pawar had formed a committee to elect the new president of the party.
