Russian attacks on Kyiv left at least five people injured, according to municipal authorities early on Monday, as Moscow started another significant offensive on Ukraine.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced the injuries on his Telegram messaging channel, saying that three persons were hurt in explosions in the Solomyanskyi neighborhood of Kyiv and two more were hurt when drone debris fell into the Sviatoshyn area, all west of the city.
In the Sviatoshyn area, a two-story structure was damaged by drone debris, according to Klitschko, who also said that explosions in Kyiv persisted.
The strikes, according to the city’s military administration, caused devastation.
The administration said on Telegram that the automobile’s fire was probably caused by debris falling on a parked car in a home’s yard. “There has been a recorded fall of debris on a residential building.”
Witnesses who spoke to Reuters claimed to have heard many explosions in Kyiv, where local authorities said that the city’s air defense systems were thwarting the strikes.
According to a local Ukrainian official, an explosion was also heard after a missile assault that struck the Black Sea city of Odesa overnight. Ukrainian media also reported hearing booms in the Kherson area in the south.
Separately, the regional military administration said in a Facebook post that Russian soldiers bombarded eight places in the Sumy area of northeastern Ukraine on Sunday.
