Police reported on Thursday that a 36-year-old man perished in a fire at a home in the New Manglapuri neighborhood of south Delhi.
According to the police, who have launched an inquiry, it first seemed like a suicide. A post-mortem has been ordered for the corpse.
They added that Viney Arora worked as a bouncer and was single.
At 8:33 p.m. on Wednesday, officers at the Fatehpur Beri police station got a report about a home fire. When a police squad arrived, they discovered a locked room with a fire raging within.
A police officer said, “The police team broke down the door and discovered a man laying on the floor with burnt items like a chair, some clothing, and a ‘Sangeetha (coal brazier)’.”
According to the officer, while it seems the guy lit himself on fire, an investigation is being conducted to find out whether the brazier was the source of the fire.
The officer stated, “We immediately notified Delhi Fire Services and a crime team to visit the spot,” and said that Arora was pronounced dead by medics from a CAT ambulance that was summoned to the scene.
