Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, gave the order to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Tuesday in order to look into the alleged incidence of a group from a different religious background allegedly trying to force their way into the revered Trimbakeshwar temple in Nashik.
Fadnavis has also urged the authorities to act swiftly by filing a FIR on the reported occurrence of a particular crowd assembling at the temple’s main gate.
The SIT will look into both this year’s event and the one from the previous year in which a crowd is said to have broken into the Trimbakeshwar temple grounds via the main entrance.
According to a temple trust official on Monday, security personnel at the Trimbakeshwar temple foiled the group’s effort on Saturday night. Only Hindus are permitted to visit the temple, which contains one of Lord Shiva’s 12 Jyotirlingas, according to the temple administration.
The police had received a complaint from the temple trust. A few videos of the event have gained popularity on social media. An officer of the additional director general (ADG) level would be in charge of the SIT, according to a statement from the Fadnavis office.
“The SIT will not only look into this occurrence, but it will also look into a related incident that happened at the same temple last year. A group coming from a certain community had entered the shrine, according to Fadnavis.
